Large cut of a clipper ship at center. 93x60.5 cm (36½x24") the edges are folded around the board and adhesively affixed to stiff backing on the rear, framed with Plexiglas on both sides. A very rare survivor. Broadside announcements for clipper ships to California are extremely rare, particularly so on linen. The Polynesia sailed under the Merchant's Express Line, Morse commander. The text suggests the intended audience was those seeking freight shipments rather than passenger travel. The freight agent Randolph M. Cooley listed at the bottom. Contemporary newspaper ads put this as an 1860 voyage. OCLC locates several copies of the advertising card for this voyage but no copies of the broadside are located.
