Davis, Jefferson (1808-1889),Sheridan, Philip (1831-1888),and Longstreet, James (1821-1904) Signed Cards, a Carte-de-visite of Stonewall Jackson (1824-1863),Two Soldiers' Letters, Gorgas, Josiah (1818-1883) Autograph Letter Signed, and Stanton, Edwin (1814-1869) Letter Signed. White paper headed Ex Secretary of War, with Davis's signature underneath, (some toning on reverse and along edges),2 x 4 3/4 in.; clipped lined paper with short note signed by Sheridan, (staining from old adhesive on reverse),3 1/4 x 5 1/4 in.; beige card with Longstreet's signature in center, (old adhesive staining on reverse),2 1/4 x 3 3/4 in.; CDV of Jackson with his name printed underneath, 4 x 2 1/2 in.; four-page letter on lined paper, Fort Marcy, 8 Nov 1861, with The Shield letterhead to Nellie, the soldier writes how he is in the hospital following a bullet to the leg at Battle of Ball's Bluff, (old folds, slight chips to left side at folds, some staining),8 x 5 in.; three-page letter on lined paper, Camp near Falmouth, 27 December 1862, a soldier's letter home where he describes life at the camp and the movements of his regiment, blind-stamped in u.l. corner, (some toning),8 x 5 in.; single-page letter, Sewanee, Tennessee, 26 March 1878, on University of the South letterhead, to E.A. Burke, concerning an investment of 75 cents per week that is to accumulate a credit of 25 cents per week, signed by Gorgas l.r., 8 x 5 1/4 in.; single-page letter on lined paper, Washington, DC, 27 March 1863, on War Department letterhead, to Henry B. Anthony, Stanton inform Anthony that his suggestions will be followed, blind-stamped in u.l. corner, (slight stains, damage from old adhesive on reverse),9 3/4 x 7 3/4 in.
