Beschreibung:

1904 FORD MODEL C FOUR-PASSENGER REAR ENTRANCE TONNEAU Engine No. C-772 Red with black interior Engine: two-cylinder, 10hp; Gearbox: two-speed planetary; Brakes: two wheel; Suspension: full-elliptic leaf springs, front and rear. Right hand drive. After a glorious racing season with Barney Oldfield at the wheel of #999, Henry Ford's most famous race car, and after the successful production of the first Model A in 1904, the Ford Motor Company introduced the Model C. This model, with an optional detachable tonneau, was more in line with Ford's concept of inexpensive transportation for the masses selling new for $950. With the tonneau removed, the car becomes a sporty runabout with a 78-inch wheelbase and weighs only 1,100 pounds. Although there is a false hood on the front to accommodate the tastes for the look of a front engine, the two-cylinder opposed engine is still under the seat. After little more than one year in business, this model continued to compete favorably with the comparable machines by Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile and Reo. The Model C was in line with Ford's concept of simplicity of maintenance and repair. Early on the Ford name was already firmly ingrained in the minds of Americans. This gorgeous vehicle has spent most of its existence in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, the site of the race track where Barney Oldfield broke the land speed record with a speed of 91.37 mph in #999. Mr. Williams won several blue ribbons at the Greenfield Village Meet with this Model C as well as many top honors at local Grosse Pointe events. It is the desirable early 1904 model and includes the optional wicker baskets and cape top. This Model C is an ideal entry for the London to Brighton Run and the rear tonneau enables you to travel with your friends.
