Ranking among the most prestigious American cars of their time, Packard's twelve-cylinder open models of the 1932-1939 period embody classic quality and refinement with a style unsurpassed by any competitor. The Twelfth Series senior cars of 1935 blended streamline design trends with traditional Packard grace, creating an especially appealing line of exceptional motorcars. The Convertible Coupe Roadster offered here was reportedly sold new on March 22, 1935 at the W. H. Collins, Inc. Packard dealership in Hollywood. (The showroom was located within a block of the movie capital's famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine.) This car is number 38 of the 51 Packard V-12s produced in the Convertible Coupe Roadster style for 1935. Thanks to a quarter-inch stoke increase, the massive Packard Twelve engine first offered in 1932 displaced 473 cubic inches for 1935. Horsepower was also up, rising from 150 in 1934 to 175 for 1935. This marvelous classic was obtained from the estate of a prominent California collector and restorer who had held the Packard for four decades. The restoration dates to around 1990 and its quality is evidenced by the car's Classic Car Club of America National First Place badge. The 66,200 miles showing on the odometer are believed original. The Packard is well equipped with factory optional dual sidemounts, a trunk rack, radio and cormorant hood ornament. The Trippe driving lights are period-authentic accessories and the car is further outfitted with turn signals. Excellently restored from a tight and solid original, this Packard V-12 “runs and drives great,” according to the vendor, a veteran dealer specializing in Full Classics. The Packard V-12 Convertible Coupe Roadster is registered and titled to the vendor in the state of Washington.
