Beschreibung:

1937 Wagner Letter to Cleland Regarding Donations to Baseball's New Hall of Fame Soon after Clark Griffith led the way, many other former players, even several of the first five inductees, responded favorably. How and what they would write to Cleland in their letters and notes would speak volumes about their personalities. Honus Wagner, who even today many consider the greatest shortstop of all time, played ball in a steady workmanlike manner. He was a man of few words. His undated letter is short and to the point. It is one line and it simply tells Alexander Cleland that he will “soon send some things to add to your relics in the Base Ball museum.” Along with this lot is a mimeographed copy of Cleland’s initial 1937 letter to Wagner. LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA.
