Amongst the large and prestigious machines built post-war by the German NSU concern were two smaller two-strokes, the ‘Quickly’ moped and the second version of the ‘Fox’ in 1951. Using a piston-ported 123cc, 52x58mm unit in place of the earlier model’s 98cc four-stroke, the new ‘Fox’, with its typically NSU chassis lay-out, is most famous in the UK for its re-launch in 1954 as part of the Vincent range. Proving to be a sprightly and popular machine, this particular example was bought by the museum in 1985. In very original and sound condition, and with less than 7,500 km recorded, it should prove of interest to NSU – and even Vincent – enthusiasts following the normal safety checks.
