A BSA Group exercise in ‘badge engineering’, the Huntmaster deployed the 650cc twin-cylinder engine of the BSA A10 in Ariel’s new swinging-arm frame. In Ariel guise the power unit differed only in detail, its origins being disguised beneath a reshaped timing cover, while on the primary drive side Ariel’s traditional ‘dry’ clutch was retained. Produced from 1954, the Huntmaster disappeared along with the rest of Atiel’s four-strokes in 1959. Accompanying correspondence from its previous owner reveals that he built up this modified example in ‘long distance trials’ trim complete with Ariel HS fuel tank, A10 alloy cylinder head, stainless-steel mudguards and alloy wheel rims: 21” at the front, 18” at the rear. The machine is offered with expired MoT (1996-97) and Swansea V5 registration document.
