Left hand drive. The Austin-Healey sports car range is synonymous with a particular era of British sports car production and is similar to Jaguar in many ways. Both companies built strong, reliable and affordable cars for the North American market, their strongest and safest market, and the cars evolved model by model over the years. The Healeys offered no frills, open-air motoring and today the cars are fondly restored and enjoyed. The 100 series cars were successful and had either 4 or 6 cylinder motors, but it is the 3000 model that most people remember as the definitive Healey. The first 3000 designated car was introduced in the Spring of 1959 and featured a six cylinder 2,912cc motor that produced 124bhp, with a top speed of 115mph. Two versions were available, either a two-seater (BN7) or a 2 plus 2 (BT7). This 2+2 example is a 1959 car that was first supplied ex-factory to Los Angeles in June 1959 as a non-overdrive car with disc wheels. The car has recently been comprehensively and professionally restored to the highest of standards; virtually everything that could be done by way of restoration has been attended to. The chassis was stripped and cleaned before being resealed and painted, and the panelwork was similarly prepared before being painted, power-buffed, polished and hand-glazed to show standards. All chromework was either replated or newly replaced, while the interior was retrimmed with correct style black Connolly leather hide piped white, new Wilton wool cut pile carpets, panel kit and new correct black Everflex top and sidescreens. Both the style and finish have been done to correct factory colors and standards with all correct detailing and appropriate decals and stickers. The car sits on 60-spoke chrome/stainless Dayton wheels with correct 175x15 Michelin ZX radial tires. Mechanically the engine and transmission have been completely rebuilt which includes the starter, generator, etc. The overdrive unit was fully examined, cleaned and resealed. The car has totally rebuilt front and rear suspension, a rebuilt braking system and a resealed steering box assembly. A new electrical system was fitted including harness, relays, lights, etc. A new stainless exhaust system correctly painted was fitted with new mounting kit and hangars. Virtually everything on the car has been rebuilt or renewed and it is offered in a handsome color combination now. It also comes with a photographic record attesting to the restoration. Further accessories include a top/side curtain set in storage bag, a reprint of the Owner's manual, a knock-off hammer, a painted spare tire and rim and a BMIHT certificate. Described as a super solid car, it has run just some test miles since the rebuild and is now ready for a new owner to enjoy.
