Beschreibung:

The Nottingham-based bicycle manufacturer, Raleigh, returned to the manufacture of powered, two wheel machines (for the second time) in the late 1950’s with a range of attractive, lightweight, pedal-assisted mopeds. They were powered by an inclined, single cylinder, two-stroke engine of 49cc, built under Motobecane licence, which developed 2.66bhp at 5,600rpm and the 1962 Supermatic featured an automatic centrifugal clutch. These lightweight Raleighs were stylish machines, generally finished in two tone livery and marketed alongside a range of accessories which gave the ‘gadgeteer’ plenty of scope. This example, in dark grey and cream livery, was first registered in Lincolnshire in 1962, remaining in that county all its life, and was last taxed in 1977. To original specification in all major respects, it is offered with old style buff log book, Swansea V5 document and manufacturer’s instruction book.
