By the 1960s, the Nuremberg and Munich-based Zundapp concern had moved away from larger machines in favour of the expanding mass-market in city commuter mopeds, famed for their reliability - 75,000 of them being built in 1961. The company’s record-breaking had not ceased, though, the 50cc world records falling to a Zundapp in 1965. The open-frame ‘Combinette’ was the best-seller at this period and a sporty, motorcycle version, the ‘Combinice’, was added to the range. As a ‘Sports 50’ the new model was a success, rated by its teenage buyers as fast but expensive. This example is in ‘as found’ condition and slightly incomplete. It is a good restoration prospect, parts being available.
