Most manufacturers found military machines a profitable pursuit and Puch was no exception. The Austrian Army’s choice was the Puch 250MCH, a blend of Puch’s traditional twin-piston engine unit with the tubular 1960s style frame and running gear, a purposeful-looking machine. The engine was the ultimate development of the twin-piston design, using all-alloy construction with the hard-chrome bores and tuning evolved for the ISDT machines. This 250MCH served with the Austrian Army from 1969 to 1985, before being ‘demobbed’ and auctioned, from where it was purchased by the museum. After some parts renewal, the Puch was used for the museum’s stand at military displays. An unusual machine, ready for events, it has an Austrian ‘Typenschein’ document.
