Introduced in 1966, the Honda CD175 was aimed squarely at the market sector that regarded motorcycles merely as cheap transport rather than thrilling lifestyle accessories. The CD175 would cruise comfortably at 65mph while at the same time delivering around 70 miles to every gallon. The current owner acquired this example from a friend who had fallen off it in the wet and, presumably disillusioned with motorcycling, consigned it to a shed. Since acquisition the machine has been cherished and used sparingly at first, apart from a tour of France, before being placed in storage with a view to later cosmetic restoration. The engine and transmission are reported as ‘fine’, having had relatively little use, and the machine’s conditions of dry storage should make it a not too difficult restoration project for the enthusiast who appreciates Japanese classics however humble.
