The East German MZ (Motorradwerk Zschopau) was made at the pre-war DKW factory, its early models based, like BSA’s Bantam, on DKW’s RT 125 single. As the concern grew under engineer Walter Kaaden, its reputation for both winning races and building race-bred road bikes rapidly grew, the TS series earning the respect of serious riders. The TS250 was followed by the improved 250/1, with characteristic finned cylinder and five speed ‘box. This example has been stored in less than ideal conditions, losing various parts along the way. Apparently a low mileage example, it will need careful reconditioning before being used on the road, where it will provide reliable and surprisingly sporting motor-cycling. Sold as seen, it comes with a clear HPI document and thus registration papers may be applied for.
