The concept’s immediate success confirmed the wisdom of Suzuki’s policy of introducing a family of similarly styled machines across just about every capacity class, the existing GS650 getting the Katana treatment for 1981. ‘The Katana is a head turning, fast scratching sportster that can hold its own with some of Europe’s best street racers and knocks most other 650s sideways,’ enthused Bike magazine. We are advised that this Katana has been used daily by the vendor, a motor mechanic who had always wanted one, and benefits from a recent service.
