INTERESTING AUTOGRAPH ALBUM FROM ROSE SUTRO, WHO WITH HER SISTER OTTILIE FORMED ONE OF THE EARLIEST PIANO DUOS, including autographs and quotations from Edwin Booth, Ernest Van Dyck, Richard Straus, Anton Rubinstein, as well as by contemporary female stars Emma Aline Osgood, Teresa Carreiro, Therese Halten, Ellen Terry Lillian Nordica, Sofia Sculchi, Rosa Sucher, Camilla Urso, Lilli Schumann, Clotilde Kleeberg, among others. The nieces of Alfred Sutro, the Sutro sisters were trained in Baltimore and Berlin in the 1880s, where this album was accomplished, before debuting in London in 1894, and opening in New York with a grand success in November 1894. Their grandfather Alexander Hamilton Handy (former Chief Justice of Mississippi) inscribed the album to Rose on Christmas day, 1882, "As a slight token of my affection, from her loving grandpa."
