With the Birds of Europe was a Memorandum in the handwriting of Mr Gould's Assistant - but on showing it to Mr Gould, he could not explain how these Books have been found where they were. I thought perhaps Mr Gould might have been travelling - & taken these impressions, to get subscribers for his works - They appear to be peculiarly well coloured."
