A .44CF COLT RICHARDS CONVERSION MODEL 1860 ARMY REVOLVER, NO. 197568 FOR 1871 The sighted barrel marked -ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA- , with conversion ejector-housing (numbered 6200, which matches barrel assembly number), COLTS PATENT marked three-screw frame, Richards First Model conversion plate/loading gate (internal gate spring) assembly marked 1084 , 6 stop cylinder with naval engagement scene marked COLTS PATENT No. 7568 , iron and brass grips straps, checkered ivory grips relief carved with Mexican Eagle and Snake standing on Cactus bed motif 8 inch (20.4 cm.) barrel Showing conversion of existing percussion barrel to Richards configuration, filled dove-tail from percussion lever catch. Grey patina overall, mostly matching numbers (wedge un-numbered), grips shrunken, some replaced screws throughout C.B. Richards patent for conversion of percussion revolvers to metallic cartridge - U.S. patent No. 117461 of July 25th, 1871.
