Forging pattern ( jihada ): finely delineated and compacted wood grain ( ko-itame ). Tempering pattern ( hamon ): narrow suguba in ko-nie . Point ( boshi ): medium rounded ( chu-maru ). Tang ( nakago ). Shape ( keitai ): Bizen, curving, probably ubu and with a moist, brown patina; file marks ( yasurime ): slanting ( katte-sagari ); holes ( mekugi-ana ): two (one plugged); signature ( katanamei ): Bizen (no) Kuni (no) ju Osafune Tadamitsu , dated Eisho 3 (1506), 8th month.
