A carved beechwood and oak mounted group of an animal and its cub, by Les Jewell, modern; the rockwork modelled base signed by the sculptor, above the shaped oak socle; 20cm high, 66cm long Les Jewell worked as an ecclesiastical wood carver for Herbert Read Ltd of Exeter and was employed in the repairs to Exeter Cathedral after the WWII Baedeker bombing. Subsequently he undertook carving work in the interior of the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C, and also conservation work at Windsor Castle.
