A cased pair of flintlock blunderbuss-pistols by Westley Richards, Birmingham, circa 1820 With three-stage belled brass barrels turned at the muzzle, the breech sections octagonal then polygonal and engraved with a band of chevron ornament at the rear, the tangs engraved with a trophy of arms, signed engraved bevelled locks each with safety-catch, roller, semi-rainproof pan and stepped tail (cocks not a pair), figured walnut full stocks, engraved brass trigger-guards each with pineapple finial, brass ramrod-pipes, and original horn-tipped ramrods: in a lined and fitted mahogany case with 170 New Bond Street trade label and some accessories, Birmingham proof marks 16in.
