A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE CARVING OF A RECUMBENT HOUND, MING OR LATER (1368-1644) the slightly curved beast with its head resting between its front paws, its rib delineated and its curling tail scrolling back onto its body, fitted wood stand; a celadon and russet jade amulet with artifical white alteration, in the form of a tortoise, its head turned back to connect with the snake that sits scrolled upon its back, this combination being a symbolic sign for the North, two drill holes either side of the tortoises head, a single exit through the tail end; a grey and russet jade plaque in the form of a taotie mask, of curved form incised with eyes, nose and mouth, the hairline a band of key-fret motifs, two drill holes within the 'ears' of the mask; and a green and russet jade amulet in the form of a tortoise, the shell and under belly realistically incised with small protruding head, drills holes either side of a extended neck, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), fitted wood stand -- the first 3 1/8in.
