A Charlie Chaplin personally owned and annotated script from "Monsieur Verdoux"

United Artists, 1947. In loose-leaf form, approximately 35 pages, blue cover is typed "'Comedy of Murders' / by Charles Chaplin / This script is the property of / The Chaplin Studios, Inc.../ Mr. Chaplin's Copy;" numerous pages are annotated in black fountain pen ink or pencil in Chaplin's hand (and in other hands as well), indicating dialogue and direction changes; a couple of pages are entirely handwritten, noting plot and costume ideas. Interestingly, Chaplin was nominated for a 'Best Writing, Original Screenplay' Academy Award for this film. Also included is a small note handwritten on vellum in black fountain pen ink (in French) by Chaplin, thanking the French for their understanding of his films, three black and white vintage print stills showing Chaplin and others on a film set, and a small Argentine magazine from 1936 called 'Paginas' with Chaplin-related articles. 11 x 8 1/2in
