Unmarked, slightly curved 32 inch Iron Proof blade with 15 inch panel etched with scrollwork and panoplies incorporating American motifs, one side with USV in fancy, scrolling script, the other side with Federal eagle. Brass hilt of British pattern, the guard pierced with eagle and US, the pommel/backstrap of plain form. Grey shagreen and brass wire-wrapped grip. Iron scabbard, the brass mounts with engraved decoration, suspension mounts numbered 188, the drag 271. Condition: Clean blade showing some frosting and minor spotting. Guard showing some wear, the pommel/backstrap probably period replacements. Grip wrap sound but showing some losses to shagreen. Scabbard showing light spotting, the tip of the drag cut-down during period of use.
