A collection of correspondence from former middleweight world champion boxer Randolph Adolphus Turpin (The Leamington Licker) to local black country man Derek Bate, to include personal letters addressed to him, of which two feature Randolph's official letterhead, mostly dated in the 1950s, to also include two signed photographs both addressed to Derek and family. (11) Provenance - Sold by Derek Bate's daughter. Derek's father was a fairground boxer and Derek became friends with Randolph during this time when they were young men. NB - Randolph Turpin defeated Sugar Ray Robinson in London in 1951 to become middleweight world champion.
