A Collection of Early 20th Century West African Artefacts, comprising currency including manillas, two Kissi pennies, British West Africa 1936 coins, beans used in the boardgame Morabaraba, three Yoruba small carved wood figures, Tuareg leather bound dagger, napkin rings and cowrie shell rattle, a large Benin carved wood panel depicting the Oba of Benin and his court, with presentation plaque dated 1926, 49cm by 76cm Footnote;- Collected by the vendor's uncle, Fred Ward who was a missionary in Lagos, where he managed the Missionary Society's first bookshop from 1921-31, after which he went to Freetown, Sierra Leone 1931-51, and then became Bursar of a Teacher's College near Bo, Sierra Leone.
