A COLLECTION OF FRAGMENTS OF PAPYRI, in Coptic and Arabic, including A PAPYRUS TEXT OF I KINGDOMS (I SAMUEL) [Egypt, 4th to 12th centuries] 19 packets of substantial papyri fragments, approximately 85 x 93mm to 340 x 126mm, the majority in the Sahidic Coptic dialect, one in Arabic, from various manuscripts containing texts in a variety of hands and including P. Feinberg 1, THE FIRST PAPYRUS FRAGMENTS OF I KINGDOMS TO BE DISCOVERED (see L. Feinberg, 'A Papyrus Text of I Kingdoms (1 Samuel) (P Feinberg 1)' in The Harvard Theological Review , 1969, p.349), written in a neat but irregular 'biblical uncial' in brown ink, with no accents, breathings or detectable punctuation, the words \kDauid\K and \kEggaddi\K clearly visible. Also P. Feinberg 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18-19, 20-24, 2 others (not labelled), a 4th-century documentary papyrus fragment, referring to the fortification (\kocurwsin\K) of embankments (\Kuper cwmatwn\k), all framed in glass; a fragment of a Hebrew manuscript on vellum and a folder containing loose fragments in Coptic and Syriac, on vellum and linen (some badly burnt); WITH: TWO TWELFTH-CENTURY FRAGMENTS OF SYRIAC WRITING, possibly Karshuni, with a few Arabic inscriptions, on paper, sold by H.P. Kraus on March 14 1986.
