A collection of nine assorted portrait miniatures, 18th century to early 20th century, eight of them oil on ivory including Queen Victoria and Napoleon, a later hand touched printed example of a crowned lady and a porcelain plaque of a lady, largest 3.5in., housed together in a gilt gesso frame Estimate £250-350 Lady with white ribbon - ivory curving up at the sides and looking a little faded to the sides but otherwise good, in a gilt frame with nice quality plaited hairback Top centre - presumably Ruth looks to be c.1900, initialled JB, looks rather faded, slight curl to the ivory, unremarkable frame. Top right - gouache painted onto card, a little light surface scuffing but overall fair, stuck down onto various card backings with a feint inscription and date 1754, plain brass frame a little rubbed. Middle left - looks like a tinted photograph on ivorine, inscribed verso Empress Josephine, a little faded and slightly discoloured, in a Victorian gilt locket frame Middle centre - oil on ivory with some slight undulation stuck onto a card backing, the very bottom is missing otherwise fair, cheap quality gilt metal frame Middle right - Napoleon on ivory, some undulation but otherwise good, possibly in an associated frame although it does appear to be roughly of the period c.1840. Frame a little discoloured, back held together with cellotape Bottom left - sealed into a Victorian gilt frame, looks like it is on card rather than ivory, slightly faded otherwise good, frame with later loop to top Bottom middle - on ivory, a little faded but otherwise fair, plain brass frame Bottom right - on porcelain, some slight nibbling at the top, 19th century gilt frame which is reasonable. Main outer frame is fine gilt gesso with small losses and dents around the border.
