Provenance: This lot comes from the estate of Eric ‘The Railway Man’ Lomax and his wife, Patricia ‘Patti’ Wallace Lomax. Eric Sutherland Lomax, born in Edinburgh, was a member of The Royal Corps of Signals during the Second World War and was stationed in Singapore until 1941, when his unit was captured by the Japanese army. His account of his experience is documented in his book The Railway Man, which was adapted into the 2013 blockbuster film of the same title, starring Colin Firth as Lomax, and Nicole Kidman as Patti.
