Colt 1878 double action revolver. Made 1889. Top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A.". "45 CAL" marked on the top left of the trigger guard. Round steel barrel with blade front sight and u-notch cut out rear. Factory blued finish on the metal components, with some fire blue still visible on the trigger. Factory hard rubber grips with checkering and Colt Pony's on each side. Factory letter indicates shipment as a blue 4 - 3/4" .45 Colt gun with rubber grips shipped to Browning Brothers in Ogden & Salt Lake City, Utah, in a shipment of 2 sent April 18th, 1889. CONDITION: Metal retains 70% of its original finish, with general wear and scratches. There are 2 areas of cleaned corrosion on the right side of the ejector spring housing. Grips are good overall, with normal wear. The right grip panel has a chunk missing out of the bottom corner. Very clean bore with sharp rifling retained. Mechanically fine, working in both single, and double action. Very tight hammer. Cylinder has some side-side movement when cocked. An above average Colt 1878 for your collection.
