A Descriptive Poem, addressed to Two Ladies, at their Return from viewing the Mines near Whitehaven. To which are added, Some thoughts on Building and Planting, to Sir James Lowther, of Lowther-Hall, Bart, first edition, 1p. advertisements at end, for J. and J. Rivington and R. and J. Dodsley, 1755 bound with Smart (Christopher) Poems on Several Occasions, 2 engraved plates, [Roscoe A562(1)], for the Author by W.Strahan, 1752, together 2 works in 1 vol., occasional foxing, mostly light, attractive modern half calf, spine gilt and with red morocco label; and a water-stained copy of Somerville's Chase, bound with Oliver Goldsmith's Poetical Works, 4to (2) *** Smart was a friend of Samuel Johnson and Henry Fielding and was married to the daughter of the publisher John Newbery.
