A FACTORY ENGRAVED .45 COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER, SERIAL No. 329856 The blued and colour case hardened revolver, engraved overall with bold scrolls, stippled fields, fan patterns and intertwining lines, by Cuno Helfricht. Mounted with the Colt sunken medallion ivory grip panel, apparently carved by the owner. Left panel of ebony and set with the gold Mexican Border Service emblem and a small piece of gold. Carried in service of the Mexican Border Service by a Harold Wenck who worked for General John Pershing. The Mexican Border Service was the fore-runner of the U.S. Border Patrol. Shot by a man who carved the symbol of a cross into Wenck's arm, the assailant left him for dead, recovering Wenck felt that this symbol was good luck. Together with some letters concerning this revolver's story. 5 1/2. inch barrel.
