Serial no. 152573 E for 1863, .36 caliber. 7 1/2 inch barrel with New York markings and brass post sight. Barrel, rammer lug, frame, triggerguard and gripstrap finely engraved with broad floral scrolls and blossoms, the hammer with scrollwork and wolf's head, most probably by the Gustave Young shop. Elephant ivory grips, the left side relief-carved with the Mexican eagle and snake motif. Condition: Very good. Mottled grey metal showing some light pitting and generally sharp markings and engraving. Cylinder retains perhaps 40-50% of scene. Grips with fine patina, strong grain, minor marks and some light wear. See Illustration
