A FARS SILVER AND GOLD INLAID BRASS BOWL WEST IRAN, 14TH CENTURY Of typical form with rounded base and long sloping shoulder rising to the triangular section rim, the shoulder engraved and inlaid with silver, gold and black composition in the form of oval cartouches with thuluth inscription alternating with roundels containing an enthroned ruler flanked by two attendants and birds in flight, a band of alternating trefoil and quatrefoil palmettes below extending to the underside of the bowl, a band of interlace around the rim, considerable silver and gold inlay remaining 7in. (17.5cm.) diam. at rim
