A Fine And Rare Cased Pair Of 32-Bore Riviere Patent Percussion Coach Pistols By Issac Riviere, No. 315 Oxford Street, London, Patentee For The Guns Without Locks, Nos. 280 and 281, circa 1825 With signed browned twist octagonal sighted barrels, case-hardened patent breeches each with platinum line and pierced platinum plug, enclosed actions with finely engraved case-hardened top-straps inscribed respectively 'Riviere's Patent, 280' and 'Riviere's Patent, 281', figured walnut half-stocks, chequered butts, finely engraved iron mounts comprising blued spur trigger-guards and fore-end caps, and case-hardened trigger-plates each with pineapple finial, stirrup ramrods, and nearly all their original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including three-way flask, the lid with trade label and brass escutcheon, London proof marks 11¾in. (29.8cm.)
