Beschreibung:

A fine and rare pair of Alexander McQueen 'Armadillo' boots, 'Plato's Atlantis' collection, Spring-Summer, 2010. possibly pastinachus sephen, with printed stick-on Press Sample labels, handwritten in biro SS10, 40, embossed to the leather arch 'Made in Italy Vero cuoio', of deep turquoise-blue shagreen with curvilinear silhouette to the upper and integral heel, a pronounced spot in the shagreen to the front of each boot, blue external zips to the side and back, with nude internal zips to nude leather lining, size 40, 31cm, 12in high (2) Costly and difficult to make, very few of these boots were made. It is possible that this pair are the ones used on the catwalk as part of look 40 as suggested on the annotated press labels. At the time, the Armadillo boots created a sensation - as strong and important a part of the collection as the clothes themselves. Their extraordinary silhouette and size helped create an impression of other-worldy creatures - humans who had morphed into strange aquatic creatures, their dresses covered in camouflage-like kaleidoscopic prints taken from nature and hair braided into pre-historic horn shapes..
