Beschreibung:

Comprising: 1) Mounted officer's sword with curved 36 blade with 31 inch blued and gilt panel engraved with conventional florals and panoplies, and on one side two jousting knights. Gilt brass five ball stirrup hilt, maker marked on the guard Hutton/Albany with their touchmark. Fine eaglehead pommel chased down the backstrap with feathers. Elephant ivory grip carved with a molded border. Black leather scabbard incised with line decoration, the gilt brass mounts decorated with ribbed banding and scalloped rims. 2) Dirk, the sharply curved 14 inch blade of oval section with 5 1/2 inch panel etched on either side with a panoply featuring crossed American flags framing an oval panel. Panel with later, lightly incised but illegible inscription. Gilt brass hilt comprising: recurved quillons, each formed of three balls, the rearmost pierced for a chain guard, now missing; simple ferrule; finely chased eagle pommel en suite to that of the sword. Elephant ivory grip also carved with molded border. Black leather scabbard incised with line decoration. Gilt brass throat and suspension mount, the throat with ribbed band above a band of two incised lines, suspension mount with two bands of incised lines. Condition: 1) Blade retains nearly all the bright blued and gilt decoration with some light spotting. Hilt and scabbard mounts retain virtually all gilt finish. Grip with some small chips below the pommel. Scabbard scuffed but sound. 2) Blade with bright steel showing some very minor spotting, the etched panel showing slight wear and some minor pitting. Hilt and scabbard mounts retain 95 percent gilt finish. Grip with chipping below pommel. Scabbard light scuffed and missing drag.
