Each set of finely etched barrels signed in gold along the top barrel and with double gold lines forward of the breech, case-hardened patent breeches finely engraved with foliage, and on the smooth barrels, a gamebird between the nipples and a hind with her calf in a wooded landscape on the underside, similarly on the rifled barrels with a chamois, and two stags in a wooded landscape, pierced platinum plugs, long border engraved case-hardened tang chiselled in relief with a calf within a gold-inlaid cartouche and decorated with symmetrical foliage involving a stag's head, and inlaid 'PATENT' in gold letters, foliate engraved safety-lever withdrawing a stud in front of each hammer and locked by a chequered catch, signed case-hardened back-action locks finely engraved with wooded landscapes inhabited respectively by a stag holding two hounds at bay, and with two stags and a hind at rest, the hammers engraved with foliage and a lion's head, highly figured butt with cheek-piece and chequered grip, the latter carved with foliage at the rear, blued steel mounts engraved with foliage en suite and comprising butt-plate with a recumbent boar in a landscape on the heel tang, trigger-guard with a stag pursued by a hound in a wooded landscape and with carved wooden tang spur, adjustable set triggers, blued sling mounts, original side-mounted ramrods and white-metal muzzle-plugs, and in fine condition retaining nearly all its original finish: in relined and refitted brass-mounted case with English accessories including G. & J.W. Hawsley powder-flask retaining much of its original finish, and steel bullet mould, the outside of the lid elaborately inlaid with pierced brass panels of symmetrical foliage within insets of darker wood at the centre and at each corner, and all within borders of brass stringing 59.7 cm. and 68.1 cm. barrels
