With browned twist octagonal sighted barrels each signed in gothic script along the top flat, border engraved cased-hardened breeches each with pierced platinum plug, foliate engraved case-hardened tangs each incorporating a back-sight, signed locks and hammers en suite (one hammer-spur detached), the former each with engraved safety-catch, highly figured full stocks, foliate engraved blued trigger-guards and rear ramrod-pipes, vacant silver escutcheons, stirrup ramrods, and nearly all their original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case lined in green baize with accessories comprising brass-mounted powder-flask (cut-off spring incomplete) and bullet mould, the interior of the case with William Bishop trade label and pasted-in type-written label reading 'Case of Duelling Pistols the property of The Earl of Bessborough, handed in by Mr. Robert King Hall for safe keeping, to Sergt., P.J. Langan, 1331, Piltown Station, Co., Kilkenny on Friday the 19th., June, 1936. Weapons slightly rusted, Top of hammer of one broken. Twelve rounds of Ball. Powder Horn, 160 Caps. Instruments (Two) for loading and unloading.', the exterior with brass escutcheon with flush-fitting carrying handle, Birmingham proof marks 11.5 cm. barrels
