A Fine Cased Pair Of 32-Bore Single-Trigger Over-And-Under Flintlock Officer's Pistols By Durs Egg No. 132 Strand, London, circa 1805 With browned twist octagonal barrels each with gold-lined touch-hole, the upper barrels sighted, signed in gold, and with two gold lines at the breech, finely engraved case-hardened tangs, signed engraved case-hardened bevelled locks each with engraved safety-catch also locking the steel, gold-lined semi-rainproof pan (some damage to gold), roller, blued steel-spring, and original blued finish on the internal working parts (cocks expertly replaced), chequered figured walnut butts (one cracked above the pommel), engraved blued iron mounts including trigger-guards in the French manner, gold escutcheons engraved with owner's crest, a raven, blued belt hooks and stirrup ramrods, and much original finish: in original lined and fitted brass-bound mahogany case with accesssories including four-way powder-flask covered in red leather, the lid with trade label for 1804-16, and flush-fitting carrying handle engraved with the same owner's crest as the pistols, the whole set in fine condition, London proof marks 13¾in. (34.9cm.)
