With browned finely twist octagonal sighted barrels each signed in gold gothic script along the top flat and rifled with eighteen grooves, gold lines, case-hardened breeches numbered '1' and '2' in gold respectively, finely engraved with scrolling foliage and each with pierced platinum plug, tangs and signed locks en suite, the former each with adjustable back-sight and incorporating a white-metal escutcheon engraved with crowned owner's initials, the latter numbered '1' and '2' in gold respectively, figured half-stocks, butts cut with diamond chequering, case-hardened steel mounts comprising side-plates en suite with the locks, foliate engraved spur trigger-guards, trigger-plates with pineapple-shaped finial, ovoidal pommels each encircled by a thin white-metal band and with case-hardened ovoidal butt-caps engraved respectively with a seated figure in a landscape and a standing figure with a fortification beyond, chequered set triggers, and much original finish: in original rosewood-veneered fitted two-tier case lined in purple silk floss with some accessories including circular horn powder-flask and five bright steel tools including turn-screws and sight adjustment key, the exterior of the lid with brass escutcheon 23.2 cm. barrels [P. 359]
