A Fine Collection of Medals to Officers Who Died During The Two World Wars Family group: Pair: Second Lieutenant (Observer) A. R. Bennet, No. 82 Squadron, Royal Air Force, killed in aerial combat on 14 October 1918 British War and Victory Medals (2. Lieut., R.A.F.); together with memorial plaque (Andrew Russell Bennet); illuminated memorial scroll; and card boxes of issue for medals Pair: Private A. G. Bennet, Durham Light Infantry British War and Victory Medals (82093 Pte., Durh. L.I.); together with memorial plaque (Alexander George Bennet); illuminated memorial scroll; and card box of issue for medals, generally nearly extremely fine (6) £300-350 Footnote Andrew Russell Bennet, a native of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, was born in 1896. He was killed in action on 14 October 1918, whilst in combat over Ledeghem, in an A.W.FK8. The Pilot, Captain H. F. Flowers was also killed. They are both buried at Dadizeele New British Cemetery, Moorslede, Belgium. Alexander George Bennet died of wounds in France and Flanders twelve days after his brother, on 26 October 1918, whilst serving with the 20th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.
