THOMAS LEE MOORHOUSE (1850-1926) considered himself an amateur photographer, using both Eastman's "easy-to-use" camera and professional equipment and developing techniques to capture American Indian life in the Plateau region. Over a 28 year period, Moorhouse took over 9,000 images. Even though -- like many other photographers of the time -- he dressed his subjects to portray past heroics and regality they believed was to be lost with changing times, Moorhouse was able to take many pictures which showed the American Indian's true situation and hardships. Condition: Some creases along edges and corners of photographs, some torn corners, water stains on "Susie Kob Lops," light foxing on Umatilla winter scene.
