A fine Louis XIV style ormolu-mounted, cut-brass-inlaid, blue horn and tortoiseshell-veneered ebonised 'Boulle' marquetry armoire A copy of the Armoire Fontanieu by André-Charles Boulle By Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen, Paris, dated 1867 The stepped pediment applied with strap-work above an arched alternating flower and acanthus-cast frieze, centred by a shell-headed scrolled volute, continuing down to an Apollo mask trailing foliage, between a pair of doors, each decorated primarily in contre-partie , mounted at the corners with ormolu strapwork hinges, inlaid with scrolling foliage and applied with a bas-relief figure of a winged putto suspending drapery and a spreading volute, applied with groups of trophies including trumpets, farming implements, oars with fishing nets, and armaments, the escutcheon with scallop-shell finials, the lower section with larger spreading volutes, veneered with blue horn and cradling oak-leaf crowned satyr masks, opening to an interior with two adjustable shelves, the side panels with, on a rectangular plinth with rosette-centred blocks above six tapering ormolu screw feet, the pediment branded to the reverse with an oval enclosing CHLES.WINCKELSEN/49.Rue Turenne/A PARIS , the base similarly stamped twice above the date 1867 105½ in. (267.9 cm.) high; 52 in. (132.1 cm.) wide; 20½ in. (52.1 cm.) deep
