A FINE PAIR OF 22-BORE SILESIAN FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS WITH SILVER LOCKS AND MOUNTS Circa 1730, Breslau silver hallmarks for circa 1727-1737 With heavy swamped brass barrels each with applied silver sighting-flat bearing a silver blade fore-sight, the foliate engraved breech sections each chiselled in relief with two sprays of acanthus foliage, foliate engraved brass tangs, one numbered '1', flat bevelled locks chased with trophies of arms in low relief on a punched ground, the cocks and steels chiselled with strapwork on a punched ground, moulded figured walnut full stocks (some wear and repairs) carved in relief with scrolls and strapwok, full cast and chased silver mounts decorated with garlands, scrolls, strapwork and trophies of arms in low relief on a punched ground, pierced foliate side-plates involving two putti and an eagle, spurred pommels each with Bacchus-mask cap, silver trigger-plates, turned and faceted ramrod-pipes, fore-end caps of dark and white horn, and wooden ramrods with tips en suite (one tip cracked), the large silver escutcheons charged with a coat-of-arms surmounted by a crest and coronet and supported by crowned lions, one engraved with the date 1692, the other engraved with the initials 'MG' and 'KP', silver maker's mark perhaps that of Gottfried Körner (recorded 1685-1722) 20¼in. (51.4cm.) (2)
