Probably adapted from a wildfowling gun, with two-stage barrel flared at the muzzle, octagonal breech becoming polygonal, plain tang, signed rounded lock engraved with foliage on the tail and on the cock (top of jaw screw missing), moulded figured full stock (butt wormed, fore-end damaged and incomplete) carved with foliate scrolls at the ramrod-entry, iron mounts comprising side-plate pierced and engraved as a winged monster, thin butt-plate secured by tacks and with long tapering tang, trigger-guard with foliate finial, turned baluster ramrod-pipe, iron suspension ring, and old iron-capped ramrod (iron parts with some wear and rust patination) 52.8 cm. barrel
