A French porcelain, gilt-brass and black marble novelty eight day globe timepiece Circa 1890 The polychrome-painted porcelain globe with French inscriptions and monogram within a cartouche, steel hour hand curving from the Arctic to indicate the time on a gilt-brass band at the equatorial position applied with twice 12 individual white enamel Arabic chapters, also calibrated 0-11 twice and engraved with quarter hour markers, the globe pivoted within a circular frame for manual adjustment, the hour hand revolving once every 24 hours, the single barrel movement with platform cylinder escapement wound through the underside of the globe, on baluster column rising from a circular base on octagonal black marble plinth 7½ in. (19 cm.) high
