A George II burr-elm striking eight day longcase clock By Thomas Ogden, Halifax, circa 1740 The caddy top hood with narrow glazed side panels and pilaster angles, narrow trunk door above stepped plinth with raised panel, restorations, the 12 in. brass cut away dial with bird and urn spandrels to silvered chapter ring with entwined leaf half hour markers and signed 'Tho. S OGDEN Halifax', matted and foliate engraved centre with subsidiary seconds and date aperture, blued steel hands, the arch with rolling moon, the movement with four ringed-turned pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell 93½ in. (237.5 cm.) high; 17½ in. (44.5 cm.) wide; 9¼ in. (23 cm.) deep
