A GEORGE II SILVER CUP AND COVER MARK OF THOMAS COOKE II AND RICHARD GURNEY, LONDON, 1755 Urn form, on circular foot, the body applied with a mid-band above applied female figures ensconced in rocaille scrolls, two leaf-capped double-scrolled handles, the cover with conforming decoration, with knop finial, the upper body engraved with presentation inscription Presented by the Corporation of the City of London. Pursuant to a Vote of the Common Council passed the 12th of July, 1813. The Right Honourable George Scholey, Mayor, to Lieut.-General Sir Rowland Hill, K.B., in testimony of the the high sense of the Country entertains for his public service in the Skill, Bravery, and Exertions so eminently displayed on the 21st June 1813. when the French Army was Completely Defeated at Vittoria by the Allied Forces under the Command of Field Marshall of the Duke of Wellington., the obverse later engraved with the Hill coat-of-arms, fully marked under both base and cover 12 7/8 in. (32.1 cm.) high; 79 oz. 10 dwt. (2,481 gr.)
