A George III mahogany eight day longcase clock, signed Samuel Dutton, Wavertree, the 33cm diameter break arch brass dial with painted moon phase, centred with a subsidiary second dial and date aperture, signed with the makers name, the two train movement striking on a saucer bell, above the flame mahogany case with a blind fretwork frieze over a shaped door, flanked by reeded quarter columns, above a conforming lower board enclosed by canted fretwork corners, raised upon ogee bracket feet, 236cm high, two weights and pendulum (at fault) Two cracks in the replaced hood glass, bottom panel appears 'swollen' with a veneer split, general condition of the clock case is damp with some white residue, back foot is missing, clock appears poorly maintained, back board appears to be original, see further images
