A GEORGE III PART-PAINTED AND PART-MATERIAL COVERED PINE TESTER BED CIRCA 1760, ADAPTED TO FORM A FOUR-POSTER BED FOR OLIVER HILL WITH CONSEQUENTIAL LATER REPLACEMENTS The George III cornices elaborately carved and pierced with acanthus scrolls, C-scrolls, ogee panels and cross-lattice, one right-side cornice retaining its probably original green-silk covering with foliate over-painting, the turned pine posts with traces of red silk, standing on baluster feet, the late Victorian turned back-posts covered in distressed red-silk and joined by later pine rails, lacking box-spring and mattress, originally entirely material covered and probable painted over decoration, restorations to cornice The front posts - 80½ in. (204 cm.) high, including their steel fixing piuns for the cornice; the back posts - 77¾ in. (197.5 cm.) and lacking fixing pins; 8 in. (224 cm.) wide; 88 in. (224 cm.) deep
